Sandra Jean (Essik) Hartman

OBITUARY

Sandra Jean (Essik) Hartman, 88, of Wyomissing, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at her residence after a brave battle with Alzheimer disease.

She was the loving wife of Richard Hartman who she married on August 29. 1959.

Born October 19, 1937, in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Harry Essik and Ruth (Troutman) Essik.

Sandra was a 1955 graduate of Reading High School. After completing school she went on to work at Berks County Trust Company for a few years as a banking assistant.

Richard, Sandra, and their children stayed active playing tennis, skiing in the Poconos, and spending their summers at the family home in Stone Harbor. While golfing members at the Berkshire Country Club they won the Mr & Mrs Tournament. Sandra loved to travel and she and Richard would take trips to Europe. Some of their favorite locations were England, Netherland, Italy, France and Spain.

When it was time to relax Sandra could be found with a book in her hand. Her home was filled with novels and she loved to read travel, mysteries, and self help books. Sandra was an active member in the community. Sandra’s volunteer work for the Junior League of Reading was an assistant to the librarian at the Wyomissing Library.

Surviving is one son, Patrick Hartman, of Bonita Springs, FL.

Sandra was predeceased by one child, Christopher Hartman who passed away in 2016.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to give special thanks to Sandra’s wonderful caregivers, Anna, Jennifer and Dorina. As well as to Heather & Karen at Advantage Hospice for taking gentle care of Sandra.
