ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — An out of control fire burned for hours at Ross Park Mall early Sunday and delayed the mall’s opening.
Firefighters spent about six hours fighting the blaze, which was reported at around 4 a.m., according to authorities.
A Facebook post from the Reserve Volunteer Fire Department at around 10:30 a.m. stated this:
“Our crews are clearing the fire at Ross Park Mall. We’ve operated for 6 hours digging out a stubborn fire in a void space between floors. Firefighters were also faced with elevated Carbon Monoxide levels
throughout the complex, created by the fire.
“This was a large scale incident involving multiple alarms of fire personnel to protect millions
of dollars in property.”
Information on what caused the blaze or if any stores were damaged was not immediately available.
No injuries were reported.
A statement on the mall’s Facebook page said the complex would open at noon today.
