U.S. Senator Fetterman questions DHS’s plans for $200M ICE facilities in PA.

TREMONT, Pa. — U.S. Senator John Fetterman is requesting more information from the Department of Homeland Security regarding two ICE facilities purchased in Schuylkill and Berks Counties.

The DHS bought the Big Lots warehouse in Tremont Township, planning to turn it into an immigration enforcement processing center.

They also purchased a warehouse in Berks County for the same purpose, totaling more than 200 million dollars.

Senator Fetterman addressed a letter to Secretary Kristi Noem expressing concerns that the use of the warehouse would quadruple the township’s existing public infrastructure burden, and that it could affect the quality of life for residents.

The facility in Schuylkill County is expected to hold 7,500 detainees.
