A 36-year-old Erie man is in custody after leading Erie police on a high-speed chase in a stolen car Sunday.
The chase ended with a crash at the West 26th Street and I-79 interchange about 12:30 p.m.
Police say the suspect stole a Pontiac G6 that was left running in an alleyway around 18th and Chestnut. Officers gave chase around Linwood and June Streets on the east side.
It was a high-speed pursuit until the man in the stolen car lost control and crashed into a snowbank. An Erie police SUV was damaged as well when it sideswiped the Pontiac.
The suspect was checked out at the hospital and released. He will face a long list of traffic charges and more. The officer was not hurt.
