Reading Area Community College has added a new members to its board of trustees.

Mike Simmons, director of community engagement for Penske Transportation Solutions, was recently named to serve on the 15-member board.

Simmons has worked at Penske since 2013, having served as director of market intelligence before taking on his current role. In his current role, Simmons directs Penske’s corporate giving initiative, nonprofit collaboration and cross-sector partnerships.

He is also responsible for evaluating and directing philanthropic investments, guiding sponsorships and donations and identifying opportunities that deliver measurable community impact.

Prior to his time at Penske, Simmons worked as director of marking and research for the Greater Reading Economic Partnership.

Simmons, a Wyomissing resident, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from North Carolina State University and a master’s degree in public administration from American University. Along with sitting on the RACC board of trustees, he is on the board of directors for the United Way of Berks County.
