SCRANTON, Pa. — Need help filing your taxes? University of Scranton students have you covered.
Accounting students and professional volunteers are providing free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.
The service is available to residents of Lackawanna and Wayne counties with household incomes of $67,000 or less in 2026.
“We found out about it through friends of ours, and we started coming. It’s really great, great for people like the elderly. It helps financially. You go to a tax preparer, and they charge you $125 to do a short form,” said Debbie Kuzmak, Jermyn.
The VITA program offers the following schedule:
Monday – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Tuesday -12 p.m. to 5 p.m.Wednesday – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.Friday – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.March 16 & March 20 – Closed
The program ends on April 8.
