ALLENTOWN, Pa. – It was just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning when Rebecca Ramos said she was awakened by police sirens and loudspeakers on the 500 block of Allen Street in Allentown.
“We thought something really bad was going on,” said Ramos.
She said that was not the case.
“No, it was snow removal. Move your cars. It was crazy,” said Ramos.
She said a tow truck was brought in too for any cars that were not moved.
“We’re happy that they remove the snow, but we’re like at that time? When everybody is sleeping, you want everybody to rush out of their homes in their pajamas to move their cars?” said Ramos.
Ramos explains that her baby was asleep at the time.
She said many people who park their cars on this block of Allen Street do not live here.
“So, imagine if you live down the street a few blocks away, you park here and walk all the way back here and your car is not here the next morning,” said Ramos.
“I think this is ridiculous. People have kids sleeping,” Ramos says.
Ramos has a message for city officials: “Thank you for removing the snow, but could you do it not past midnight when people are sleeping in their beds?”
69 News reached out to the city for comment. A spokesperson tells us she has reached out to the Police Chief and Director of Public Works and is waiting to hear back.
