OBITUARY

Robert James Douglas, 84, of Taylor, died Saturday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandpa as well as an avid Penn State football fan.

He was born in Scranton and was the son of the late James Douglas and Sarah Orr Douglas. He graduated from Scranton High School and served in the U.S. Air Force until 1968. He worked at Vermont Sportswear Co. in Taylor as a manager and later worked for the U.S. Postal service, delivering mail in the Clarks Summit area. He was a member of the Taylor Primitive Methodist Church where he had served as treasurer for 40 years. He was active as an assistant Boy Scout leader, Troop 85, and had been a coach for the Taylor Girls Softball League.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Penne Williams Douglas, a daughter, Donna Machler and her husband Arthur of Dunmore, two sons, James Douglas and his wife Kathleen of Avoca and Bryan Douglas of Salt Lake City, Utah, and one grandson, Logan Douglas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Bonevitch.

The funeral will be on Thursday, February 12th from the Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor. Public visitation from 11am to 12 noon. A private family service and interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
