Robert Michael “Boomer” Marichak, Jr., 52, of Dunmore died at home peacefully.

Born in Scranton, son of Robert M. Marichak, Sr. of Dunmore and the late Maryann Kunda Marichak, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School and went on to attend Penn State University.

Often, we are remembered for what we became and not for who we once were.
This is something we will not do, but we will not sugar-coat Boomer’s life either.
Boomer set ablaze many bridges and he destroyed himself knowing he can never cross them again. He used to say, “It is what it is.” We knew differently. The pain that he held in his heart for his actions, especially for his four children caused a horrifying spiral of addiction.

Boomer never gave himself a chance to be an uncle and most importantly, a father to his four amazing children. Boom made it really hard to love him, but today we want him to be remembered for the son, brother, and friend he once was. So, when you hear a Grateful Dead song, remember a 90’s mosh pit, go hiking, sing the words to a Sublime song, see a kid soar on a skateboard, lay in the sun, see kids running cross-country, or anyone doing a ridiculously hard math problem…give a little nod and a smile and think about Boomer.  Remember who he once was.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his children, Olivia Soriero, Lanee Olson, and Molly Marichak; sisters Robin Jackson and husband Ted of Wilkes-Barre, Deanna Golden and husband Tommy of Dunmore; and Amanda Forgione and husband Dan of Valencia, CA; nieces and nephews Delani Golden and fiancé Nick Perry, Tommi Jane Golden, Max and Jared Jackson, Beau Golden, Arya and Evie Forgione; as well as numerous cousins.

Services are private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations can be made to Bazaar Skate Shop C/O Dino DeNaples Instructor, 342 Adams Ave. #2 Scranton, Pa 18503. Your donation will help fund future skateboard programs for children. Boomer spent the happiest times of his childhood in the skateboard community.
