Marilyn (Revello) Ferrett

OBITUARY

Marilyn (Revello) Ferrett, a lifelong Old Forge resident, passed away on Sunday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was 70 years old. She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 41 years, Laurence Larry Ferrett.

Born on July 30, 1955, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Delores (Sopp) Revello. A graduate of Old Forge High Schools Class of 1973, she proudly won the title of Miss Devilette. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. While at E.S.U., Marilyn became a founding member of the Lambda Iota Sorority, which still exists at the school today.

In 1967, Marilyn’s family became the owners of Revello’s Pizza in Old Forge, a business that grew into a beloved regional staple for nearly six decades. Marilyn was involved every step of the way, from helping out as a youth to waitressing, making the best meatballs in town, and eventually becoming a co-owner with her siblings.

Before and after raising her children, Marilyn taught health and physical education at Old Forge High School for many years prior to her retirement.

Never to be forgotten was Marilyn’s larger-than-life personality. Outgoing and friendly, she was adored by her family and friends. She was known for her creativity and love of music, sports, and dancing, although she always wished that she could sing.

Although her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with Larry, Marilyn will be forever missed by her loved ones.

She is survived by her loving family, including her three children, Dustin Ferrett of Old Forge, Lauren Ferrett of Philadelphia, and Ashley Ferrett with John Mucciolo of Old Forge; her siblings, Kathleen Povanda and husband Bernard Bernie of Moosic, and Patrick Revello and wife Heather of Old Forge; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Revello.

Her family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. John Diakiw and the entire staff of Geisinger C.M.C.’s I.C.U. for their care and compassion throughout Marilyn’s illness. The family would also like to thank her cousin, Lyndsay Sopp-Martinez, for her devoted care.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Church, 312 Davis Street in Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Paul McDonnell, Pastor. Private burial will be held at Old Forge Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until Mass.

Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s name to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, c/o 967 Gravel Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411, or online at: www.griffinpondanimalshelter.com
