Three suspects are facing drug charges, according to the Berks County DA’s Office, which began investigating after receiving reports of drug sales to juveniles.
READING, Pa. — Authorities in Berks County have charged three suspects accused of making illegal drug sales from smoke shops in Reading.
Mohammad Hamood Abiah, 39, Joshua Velez, 38, and Aljenis Kelvin Reyes, 29, all of Reading, are charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.
All three men were taken into custody without incident on Monday, authorities said.
The alleged illegal drug sales occurred at Prime Tobacco Zone at 438 Penn Avenue in West Reading and at NYC Convenience Inc., located at 1142 Rockland Street in Reading.
The investigation, which began in early 2025, was conducted by the Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force in conjunction with the Borough of West Reading Police Department, District Attorney John T. Adams said in a press release.
Detectives began looking into the tobacco stores after receiving reports of suspected sales of illegal, high-potency THC products to juveniles from community members.
“These reports were further amplified by several incidents in which young people became ill after consuming these products,” Adams said in a press release.
On September 10, 2025, the Task Force executed search warrants at both stores and seized several items containing suspected THC, with an estimated value of $200,000.
At Prime Tobacco Zone, authorities seized:

At NYC Convenience Inc., authorities found:

On Monday, a second search warrant was served at NYC Convenience Inc., where authorities recovered an additional $60,000 of suspected illegal items, including:
