Francis M. Schwader (1945 – 2026)

Francis M. Schwader, of Hellertown, passed away on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. He was the beloved husband of Nydia (Bonilla) Schwader, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Hellertown on June 30, 1945, Francis was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Kost) Schwader. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Francis worked as a painter and carpenter throughout his life. His skills and craftsmanship were shared with many local businesses and institutions, including Moravian College, the former Rustic Grandeur, Hellertown Manufacturing and Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Lower Saucon Sportsman’s Association and the Hellertown Democratic Club and the former Beethoven Waldheim. Francis enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a deep appreciation for art and craftsmanship. He especially loved painting scenes of Dimmick Park, carving gun stocks and making knives—talents that reflected his patience, creativity and attention to detail.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife, Francis is survived by his children, Valerie Schwader of Bethlehem and Allan Jay Schwader of Allentown. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Frankenfield.
