COATESVILLE, Pa. – A Chester County father is in custody and an infant is fighting for its life after police say the man stabbed the child.
It happened just after 11:30 a.m. today at a home in the 2000 block of Smithbridge Drive in Coatesville.
Arriving officers took the child’s father, identified as 44-year-old Michael Phillips, into custody for allegedly stabbing the three-month-old in the abdomen and then taking the child outside and tossing it in the snow.
Police say the child is in serious condition and was flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to undergo emergency surgery.
The investigation is ongoing.Â
