DUNMORE — The borough changed how it collects taxes in 2026.
Due to a retirement in Dunmore’s tax office, the tax collector designated tax administration firm Berkheimer as deputy tax collector rather than filling the position. The borough said the move allows it to avoid additional staffing costs while maintaining full service, according to a notice from Dunmore.
The notice to residents instructs them to follow payment directions on their tax bills, which include Berkheimer’s in-person services inside the Marketplace at Steamtown, 300 Lackawanna Ave. Unit 116, Scranton, next to Boscov’s. Berkheimer’s office hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dunmore is unable to process payments at the Borough Building. If a tax bill is brought to there, it must be in a sealed envelope with the property owner and parcel number legibly written on the envelope, according to the borough.
Dunmore will accept tax bill drop-offs Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They should be placed in a drop box that will be forwarded to Berkheimer. Anyone whose taxes in are escrow should notify their lender of the change.
The changes also apply to the Dunmore School District tax bill.
No cash will be accepted at either the Borough Building or Berkheimer’s office.
