Drama continues over the future leadership of the Performing Arts Collective Alliance (PACA) in downtown Erie.

The organization’s board of directors announced that PACA’s founder and executive director Mark Tanenbaum has resigned.

However, Erie News Now spoke with Tanenbaum over the phone, and he stated that he did not resign.

Tanenbaum said that there was an interaction with the board that led to them announcing his resignation on social media.

However, Tanenbaum says that whatever he said to the board did not rise to a resignation.

Tanenbaum founded PACA 16 years ago, to help improve the arts community by providing studio space for artists.

Tanenbaum told Erie News Now that PACA is in great shape financially, and that he’s raised enough money to replace the building’s aging elevator.

Tanenbaum said that the future of arts in this community is more important to him than any conflict with the current board.

Meanwhile, the board of directors is scheduled to vote on Tanenbaum’s future with PACA next Tuesday.
