A father is accused of stabbing his baby and then throwing him out in the snow in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, police said. 

Crews were called to the 2200 block of Smithbridge Drive in a gated apartment complex around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Coatesville police said. 

Michael Phillips, 44, was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing his baby in the abdomen and then throwing him out in the snow, police said. 

The child was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he is undergoing surgery, police said.
