EASTON, Pa. – A man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges in Northampton County for allegedly scattering pieces of food with fishhooks inside of them in downtown Easton.Â
Joseph Janko-Hudson is facing six charges of cruelty to animals, and six charges of criminal attempt to commit cruelty to animals, according to Easton police.
On Sunday, Feb. 8, at approximately 4:46 p.m., the Easton Police Department responded to the 400 block of Northampton Street for a report of small pieces of food with fishhooks placed in them spread of the ground, according to the criminal complaint.Â
Haley VanLuvanee, an Easton resident, reported the incident to the police. She informed the police that while walking her dog in that area, she came across the food pieces that had fishhooks placed inside of them, the criminal complaint said.Â

Officers reviewed video surveillance of that area and found a man, later identified as Janko-Hudson, walking in the 400 block of Northampton Street at approximately 4:09 p.m..Â
As Janko-Hudson was walking, he was seen in the footage emptying items out of his pocket onto the ground in the same area that the fishhooks were located.Â
Prior to the item being found, Janko-Hudson was the only person seen in that area at that time discarding something, according to police.Â
On Feb. 8, investigators responded to the area after reviewing the surveillance footage. In each location where Janko-Hudson was seen discarding items from his pockets, pieces of food with fishhooks were located, the criminal complaint said.Â
Investigators collected six pieces of food with hooks embedded inside.Â
On Monday, police were able to identify Janko-Hudson through a surveillance photo.Â
Bail has been set at $50,000, according to officials.Â
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 25.Â
