What started as a routine moment in the yard turned into a nightmare for Sanela Gulech and her family. Gulech had stepped outside her Millcreek home to let her one-year-old Goldendoodle, Curly, into the yard while she watched him. Within moments, everything changed.

Just a few feet away, Gulech noticed movement—two large coyotes. At first, she thought one of them might be the neighbor’s German Shepherd, but she quickly realized the truth, and her heart sank. All she could do was scream as the unthinkable unfolded. The coyotes attacked Curly and dragged him away.

Her husband immediately ran after them, and the family rushed Curly to an emergency veterinary center. However, the news from the veterinarians was devastating. The injuries Curly sustained were so severe that the vets could barely recognize his organs due to the number of puncture wounds. Even while sedated, Curly shook and cried in pain, a heartbreaking sight for the family.

Now, the family is urging the township and the game commission to take action to prevent such incidents from happening again.

When asked what steps might be taken next, Gulech emphasized that her only goal is to ensure no other family has to endure the pain and trauma her family experienced.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife in residential areas and highlights the need for increased awareness and preventive measures to protect pets and their families.
