A Riverside school board member was found guilty Thursday of shoplifting $18.10 worth of items at Walmart in Taylor last summer.

Police said Brandi Luckasavage, 50, stole acetaminophen, Gatorade, Swedish fish and a bath item on June 21, according to police.

At a summary trial before Magisterial District Judge Joanne Corbett, Luckasavage was found guilty of retail theft and ordered to pay $18.10 restitution and fines and fees totaling about $250.

Luckasavage failed to scan the items as she was going through the self-checkout, instead handing them to an unnamed male, according to a citation.

Luckasavage won her seat on the Riverside School Board in November 2023. During her campaign, she said she was a 1994 graduate of Riverside High School. Also during that campaign, she indicated she worked in the cigar business for 25 years and was currently a home health aide.

The district’s website, which includes information about its school board, indicates Luckasavage attends meetings and participates in votes and discussion. So far this year, she has attended every meeting, according to the district website.

Riverside School Board President Anthony Mattioli did not immediately return an email requesting comment.
