The case against two Erie residents charged in connection with the death of a young dog is moving forward. It’s a case that has sparked widespread outrage due to the circumstances surrounding the puppy’s death.

Police charged Scott Bayle, 23, and Tori Jackna, 26, shortly after a severely injured husky was brought to the Erie Police Department last month. The six‑month‑old puppy, later renamed Aimee by the ANNA Shelter, arrived in grave condition.

According to investigators, the couple allegedly left the husky outside for extended periods during last month’s extreme cold. Despite emergency efforts by the ANNA Shelter’s medical team, Aimee did not survive.

Bayle and Jackna face multiple charges, including aggravated cruelty to animals.

In court Thursday, the pair waived their preliminary hearing, allowing the case to move forward toward trial.
