Pitt Day of Giving is fast approaching. The annual event returns Feb. 24 with challenges and bonus funds to encourage Pitt alumni, faculty, staff, students and others to give to the University.
Last year, a total of 11,423 donors representing all 50 states, 23 countries and five continents gave more than $3.26 million in support of Pitt’s schools, programs and athletics. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Pitt Day of Giving, which has seen steady increases in the number of donors and total given.
Five areas have been identified as the greatest priorities during this fundraiser. They include: the Panthers Forward program; the general scholarship fund; Pitt Finish Line Grant fund; student emergency assistance; and the Pitt Fund, which allows the chancellor and senior leadership to respond strategically to opportunities and challenges as they arise.
A variety of challenges throughout the day will reward the schools, areas and student organizations that have the most donors.
If 2,750 faculty, staff and retirees make a gift, $5,000 will be awarded to the fund that received the most gifts from faculty and staff members.
There also will be 10 days of activities leading up to Feb. 24 to mark the 10th anniversary. These kick off Feb. 15 with Find-A-Panther. Find a plush Panther around Oakland, scan the attached QR code and choose any PDoG participating organization to receive $50. This will repeat on Feb. 19 and 24.
On Pitt Day of Giving, there will be activities throughout the day, including: Pitt Pantry Donation and Hat Giveaway, PDoG Trivia, T-shirt giveaway and food trucks at the William Pitt Union
