BETHLEHEM, Pa. – We first told you earlier this month about a 10-year-old Bethlehem boy who was traveling to California to go to Super Bowl LX. Now, he’s back home.
The trip was made possible by the Make-A-Wish foundation and several partners.
For Louis Fitzko, it was a dream come true.
“It was amazing. We were on like the very top floor [of Levi’s Stadium] and had a really good view of both end zones, the whole field and all that,” Fitzko told us.
Louis was born with spinal muscular atrophy and three months ago around his 10th birthday, he learned his wish to go to a Super Bowl would be granted thanks to Make-A-Wish, Fanatics and the NFL.
“We didn’t even think that was a possibility so the fact that it was something that he could do that we could never ever do for him was really awesome, but not just the game, the whole week was planned. They did so many amazing things for the kids and every part was planned out,” said Louis’s mom, Krista Fitzko.
The Fitzkos flew out of Philadelphia the Wednesday before the big game and stayed in San Jose. They got to see the famous Golden Gate Bridge, had a private shopping experience with Fanatics, attended a Make-A-Wish event at Top Golf and attended NFL Honors — along with getting a tour of Levi’s Stadium that included meeting players.
“I met one of my favorite players, Alex Highsmith from the Steelers. I met Myles Garrett from the Browns,” Fitzko recalled.
Louis also told us he met Giants quarterback Jackson Dart and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.
“The stadium was amazing. The game by itself was the best part,” Fitzko stated.
Louis, an avid sports fan, even received his own trading card from Fanatics and got to make a Steelers Build-A-Bear.
“The people at Make-A-Wish were amazing and we couldn’t thank them enough when we were there. And we still can’t show our appreciation enough because Louis just had the best time,” Louis’s dad, Eric Fitzko, said.
With the Seattle Seahawks now celebrating their second win as world champions, Louis tells us he’s optimistic about the future of his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I would say depending on who they draft, what they get for free agency, if they get some valid and good players, I wouldn’t say the Super Bowl but maybe the divisional rounds,” Fitzko told us.
