On Saturday, firefighters quickly knocked down a garage fire along Beech Street in Scranton. Investigators are now looking for a cause.

SCRANTON, Pa. — On Saturday morning, firefighters battled flames in Scranton.

They were called around 9:30 am to the 800 block of Beech Street for a garage fire.

Fire Officials say that once crews were there, they saw smoke coming from the roof.

Deputy Chief Dan Hallowich from the Scranton Fire Department says the pathways to get to the fire were both helpful and a hindrance.

“The building had limited access points which worked for us and against us, you know, it trapped a lot of the heat in there so it was able to build up over time prior to us getting there or before somebody noticed it, but in the same token, because it trapped all that heat, it was able to isolate the fire to kind of one location,” said Hallowich.

After gaining access to the garage, they started putting water on the fire, which quickly knocked it out.

No one was inside at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

City fire investigators are looking for the cause of the fire.
