A house fire broke out around 9:30 on Saturday night near Buffalo Road and Downing, injuring one person and forcing evacuation.

Erie fire crews responded and found smoke and flames showing from a second floor window.

They went to work to knock the fire down quickly and check to make sure flames had not spread to the attic.

According to dispatchers at least one person suffered smoke inhalation. Others on the first and second floor were safely evacuated. The fire was under control within a half hour.
