Larry M. Klingaman
OBITUARY
Larry M. Klingaman, 74, of Spring Township, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Reading Hospital, with his loving wife and son by his side.
Born in Reading, he was the only son to the late Richard M. and Nancy E. (Lesher) Klingaman. Larry was married to the love of his life, Cynthia A. (Hracho) Klingaman for 53 wonderful years. He is survived by their sons: Richard M. Klingaman of Reading, and Michael L. Klingaman, partner of Jessica Blair, of Shillington. Larry is also fondly remembered by his four sisters: Kittiann Sessler of Venice, FL, Linda J. Klingaman of Fleetwood, Nancy K. Klingaman of Etters and Karin “Sue” Schaeffer of Muhlenberg Township.
The Klingaman family moved often, but always found their way back to the Reading area. Living on the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, in Bangor Pennsylvania, and in West Reading gave Larry an opportunity to make far-flung, lifelong friends from all walks of life. He was an honorary member of Bangor High School’s graduating class despite completing his senior year at West Reading High School – an example of his ability to make an impression on the community around him.
Following high school, Larry went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from the Industrial Management Institute which led to a career of over 40 years as a Pipe Support Designer mainly working for Gilbert Associates, later named WorleyParsons. This career provided Larry with opportunities to explore the world which he loved to curate in photos. It also provided Larry with a network of coworkers that remember his quick wit, enthusiasm to help, and complete inability to find the pencil perpetually hanging out of his own mouth.
Larry relished the time he spent with his sons golfing, and greatly enjoyed adventures in his Porsche and on his motorcycle, taking in the countryside.
Also grateful of Larry’s memory are his grandchildren: Owen, Megan, Leah, Alexander, and Courtney. Pop Pop was an anchor to them; constantly creating traditions (big and small) that will live on to provide space for them to celebrate his memory for their own lifetimes. Larry was a remarkable man, but he was an extraordinary grandfather.
Larry will be remembered as a man who lived in quiet service to those around him. He supported the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation for many years, supporting and attending numerous fundraising events. A legacy from his father, Larry’s “fix it attitude” and generosity of spirit never missed an opportunity to help without need or expectation of thanks, whether it was home improvement projects (for his homes or the homes of others,) offering a kind word, or squeezing one’s shoulder to remind them that he’s there. This gift of his has been a common thread throughout his lifetime, weaving together groups of people who grieve his passing through memories of his kindnesses.
Private services for Larry will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Larry’s honor to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, 58 Kennel Road, Birdsboro, PA 19508 or at www.berksarl.org or The Humane Society of Reading, 1801 N. 11th Street, Reading, PA 19604 or at www.humanepa.org.
