The Pittsburgh Steelers have seen quite a bit of turnover when it comes to their coaching staff early on this offseason. After Mike McCarthy replaced Mike Tomlin as the team’s new leader, he quickly moved to bring his own guys to town, resulting in a new-look Steelers’ coaching staff. And according to reports, it sounds like some moves are still being made.

With McCarthy’s new staff coming in, that left many of Tomlin’s assistants in tough spots. That group includes outside linebackers coach Denzel Martin, who has been with Pittsburgh since 2016. Martin was on the outside looking in after McCarthy’s hire, but he has found a new home, as he will be joining the Los Angeles Chargers, working as an assistant outside linebackers coach.

“Sources: The Chargers are hiring former Steelers OLBs coach Denzel Martin as assistant OLBs coach on Jim Harbaugh’s staff,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported in a post on X. “Martin was in Pittsburgh since 2016 and has worked with the likes of TJ Watt, Alex Highsmith, Nick Herbig, among others. He now joins the Chargers with new DC Chris O’Leary.”

Martin will join a Chargers’ defensive staff that is being led by recently hired defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary. After spending years working with guys like T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, Martin will be tasked with helping Los Angeles’ pass rush take a step forward. With Martin gone, C.J. Ah You has been tabbed by McCarthy as the team’s new outside linebackers coach.
