A person is fighting for their life after getting hit by a car while walking along the shoulder on Black Horse Pike on Sunday morning, police said.

The hit-and-run happened at around 4:34 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, on State Highway 42 in the area of Whitman Drive in Washington Township, police said.

The car involved, a 2021 Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G-Wagon), was driving southbound when it struck the person on its passenger side and then fled the scene, police said.

The driver has since been identified using license plate reading technology, police said.

The person injured was first taken to a nearby hospital, but has since been airlifted to another hospital for advanced treatment, police said.
