A snowboarder suffered a serious injury Sunday afternoon at Mt. Pleasant of Edinboro.

The accident was reported around 3:40 p.m. Rescuers transported the patient just before Erie News Now crew arrived.

According to the transport crew, an 18‑year‑old female snowboarder ran into a tree and suffered a possible hip fracture and head injury.

The crew called for a trauma alert as they transported her to UPMC Hamot.

Mt. Pleasant officials couldn’t comment on the patient but did talk about the importance of safety on the ski and snowboard slopes.

“National Ski Association has what’s called the Skier Responsibility Code, and we incorporate that into all of our lessons and make sure all of our guests are aware of that, you know, and we just want everybody to come out and have a good time.”

We have no information on the snowboarder’s condition tonight.
