The Miami Dolphins have cut ties with former Pittsburgh Steelers guard James Daniels after just one season with the team.
Daniels suffered a significant pectoral injury after Week 1 that ended his season with the Dolphins. Just one year into a three-year, $24 million contract, Daniels will now be a free agent again.
This is two significant injuries that Daniels has suffered in each season. For the Dolphins, he played just three snaps overall. With the Steelers, Daniels was in the midst of an excellent season in 2024 before he tore his Achilles against the Indianapolis Colts.
Daniels, who the team signed as a free agent in 2022, played out the entirety of his contract, starting the majority of games for his first two seasons. Yet, injuries have become an issue now.
The Steelers could potentially reunite with Daniels as they will need help at left guard. Isaac Seumalo is a free agent, and the Steelers have to decide if they would rather bring Seumalo back or venture into the open waters to fill that position.
Daniels will likely be cheap after two straight season-ending injuries, and the last time he did play significant snaps, Daniels was an excellent starting guard for the Steelers.
