Dense fog mainly near the Lake Erie and Niagara River shorelines into early Tuesday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Erie county until 11am Tuesday.

Visibility as low as one quarter mile at times, mainly near the Lake Erie and Niagara River shorelines, and the downtown Buffalo area as well. Use extra caution when traveling Rt. 5 and the 190 near the lake and river. Outside of the fog, a few spotty rain showers will be possible as well.

Warm and moist air continues to cross Lake Erie and all the ice and snow covering it. As the air cools, it condenses and forms the fog.

As temperatures climb tomorrow morning, any fog will lift and mix out into the afternoon.  As we get more of these early season spring air-masses to move in, we’ll continue to pick up fog events like this evening.  In fact there is a fog season here in WNY that runs from about now through much of April.

All signs spring is on way!
