Speed zone enforcement begins near 5 Philadelphia Schools

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Drivers caught speeding through five Philadelphia school zones will soon be caught on video.

Starting Tuesday, speed enforcement cameras will be live during arrival and dismissal times.

City officials say the cameras are installed outside Stetson Middle School, KIPP North Academy, Widener Memorial School, High School of the Future and Sayre High School.

The city chose these five schools because they have the highest number of crashes reported nearby.

Drivers will receive warnings through April 20.

After the warning period is over, driving over 15 miles per hour can result in a $100 ticket in the mail.
