Shift4 announced Wednesday that it is in “exclusive negotiations” to acquire a trio of businesses that processes payments for more than 140,000 businesses across the U.S. and Canada.

The Upper Saucon Township payments and commerce technology company said it expects the deal to pick up Bambora Inc., Bambora Holding Corp. and Worldline SMB US Inc. to be completed in early 2026. These companies are subsidiaries of Paris-based Worldline.

A sales price was not disclosed.

“This is a textbook Shift4 acquisition, delivering a massive funnel of gateway customers and payments volume to cross-sell onto our global acquiring platform,” Shift4 CEO Taylor Lauber said. “This deal is similar to past transactions that have enabled us to rapidly grow our customer base by offering these merchants significant value and a better payments experience with a streamlined end-to-end commerce solution.”

Shift4 has been making international acquisitions this year. In February, it purchased Swiss-based Global Blue, a tourism tax refund company, for $2.5 billion. In June, Shift4 acquired New Zealand credit card processing company Smartpay for $180 million.

The news comes as Shift4 founder and Executive Chair Jared Isaacman is apparently back in the running to become NASA director.

In trading Wednesday afternoon, Shift4 shares were down 2.07% to $75.32.
