READING, Pa. – Some local singers are gearing up for a special performance this weekend.
The chorus, made up of people from across the area, held a practice Monday night. They will perform together during the “Gospel Jubilee.”
The Reading branch of the NAACP puts on the event every year in honor of Black History Month. The event aims to spread the word of God through music and community.
“We’re hoping and praying that the community gather together, that they will come out … that their soul will be lifted and revived, and will leave with more hope then what they came with,” said Pastor Calvin Scott Sr.
The Gospel Jubilee will be held at Alvernia University’s Francis Hall at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
