SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — There are new developments on Monday in a case that shook Scranton and left a police officer fighting for his life.
The Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office announced on Monday Aiden Deininger, the man who pleaded guilty to shooting a Scranton police officer, is now scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday morning.
Prosecutors say Deininger fired into a police vehicle in January of 2024, hitting Officer Kyle Gilmartin in the head twice and critically injuring him.

Authorities explained that Deininger previously pleaded guilty to 28 charges, including three counts of attempted murder of police officers.
His co-defendant, Jeremiah Cleveland, who also pleaded guilty in the case, is expected face the judge alongside Deininger on Tuesday.
