ON GOAL TO EDGE OUT SWITZERLAND 2 TO 1. AND FINALLY, THE WESTERN PA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM LOST A TOURNAMENT IN CONNECTICUT THIS WEEKEND. THE PLAYERS FROM EDGEWOOD, ALLEGHENY COUNTY, THEY FEEL LIKE THEY LEFT THE COURT WITH A WINNING FEELING. AND HERE’S WHY. WITH THE GAME ALL BUT DECIDED, THE LIONS HEAD COACH LEARNED ONE OF THE PLAYERS IN THE HOME, WHITE WAS A SENIOR WHO HAD PLAYED VERY LITTLE. HE ASKED HIS PLAYERS IF THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO GIVE THE GIRL THE BALL, GIVING HER A CHANCE TO SCORE. THEY AGREED A TEAM EFFORT LEADING TO THAT BASKET AND A MOMENT THAT EVERYONE ON THE COURT CELEBRATED. The Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf girls’ basketball team lost in a tournament in Connecticut last weekend, but the players left the court with a winning feeling.With the game all but decided, the Lions’ head coach learned that one of the players on the home team was a senior who had played very little. He asked his players if they would be willing to give the girl the ball, giving her a chance to score.
