The Borough of Exeter marked the beginning of the Wyoming Avenue-Schooley Avenue Sanitary and Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project on Tuesday.

The $8 million project replaces aged and deteriorating sewer lines that separate the storm and sanitary sewer systems and reduces the risk of sewage backups, flooding and environmental contamination.

“It has taken us years to assemble the financing, and we have a lot of people to thank,” said Mayor Denise Adams.

The project has been made possible by $969,000 of PA Department of Community & Economic Development LSA Grants and a $6.9M USDA Rural Development loan.

The project will take 18 months to complete, and culminate with the repaving of Wyoming Avenue.
