PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Albion hunt seat equestrian team earned third in both weekend shows hosted by Lake Erie College from February 14-15.
The Britons ended their normal season second in the region out of eight teams and only a slim number of points away from winning the region.
On the first day of competition, Phoebe Martin earned second in open fences and fourth in open flat.
Anna Harvey was the lone winner for the Britons, claiming the top spot in novice.
Maggie Sorrelle was runner-up in limit flat, and Rebecca Till was also second in limit fences.
Simone Taylor (fourth, intermediate flat) and Katie Worner (sixth, intermediate fences) were Albion’s top finishers in their respective events.
The second day boded well for Martin, who won open fences. Beatrice Eng-McDonald finished runner-up in limit flat, while Lucia Souten (third, intermediate flat) and Anna Huard (third, open flat) rounded out the riders who earned sports in the top three individually.
Aine Carey was fourth in limit fences, while Sorrelle (fifth, intermediate fences) and Chelsea Ramdahn (fifth, intro) were the best Britons in their events.
Melaney Duenas Lopez and Olivia Swiliniski each claimed sixth in novice.
Martin was the Cacchione Cup regional winner and qualified for regionals in open flat.
