The Pittsburgh Steelers landed talented Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston in Daniel Jeremiah’s second mock draft, this one coming before the NFL Combine.

Boston, perhaps the top of the next tier of wide receivers after Makai Lemon, Carnell Tate, and Jordyn Tyson, is an excellent outside wide receiver archetype. Jeremiah refers to him as a ‘power forward’ along with DK Metcalf, which would bring size to the Steelers.

“Boston makes too much sense here. The Steelers would have two power forwards on the outside with the rookie playing opposite DK Metcalf,” Jeremiah wrote.

Boston spent four seasons at Washington and has excelled in the last two. He had two straight seasons of 800 or more yards, along with 20 touchdowns in those seasons. The Huskies utilized Boston as a jump ball receiver in the red zone, but he showcased the ability to separate, too.

This past year, Boston upped his yards per reception by a full yard to 14.2 yards per reception. Adding to his resume, Boston was a punt returner while at Washington, fielding 25 punts over his four seasons with Washington.

The Steelers have some inside knowledge of the program, with area scout Mark Bruener around the program. They have drafted Troy Fautanu and Carson Bruener over the last two years.
