I am writing as a concerned Lackawanna County resident who has watched recent reports of violent crime in Scranton with growing alarm. Incidents involving serious assaults and homicides have left many in our community feeling unsettled and questioning the direction our city is heading.

Scranton has long been a city where families felt safe in their neighborhoods. Today, many people are asking what is being done to address the rise in violent crime and to restore that sense of security. We deserve clear communication from city leadership about the specific steps being taken to support law enforcement, prevent violence and protect our neighborhoods.

Public safety should be a top priority. I urge city officials to provide transparency about their plans, outline measurable strategies to reduce crime, and ensure that residents’ concerns are heard and addressed.

Our community’s future depends on strong, effective leadership and a renewed focus on keeping Scranton safe for everyone.
