COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Columbia City Council is currently holding a meeting to take the first step toward repealing the current moratorium on short-term rentals.
The moratorium was initially put in place following a June 2025 shooting at an Airbnb in Columbia that killed one and injured three.
Since then, the council has worked to change the rules regarding short-term rentals within Columbia’s city limits.
The council is also discussing potential changes to the city’s unified development codes to allow exemptions for certain short-term rentals.
The meeting started at 4 p.m.
