Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman John Leglue is retiring from the NFL, he announced on social media. Leglue spent much of the past few seasons bouncing around practice squads.
He signed with the Rams at one point this season, but was unable to stick in one place. An undrafted free agent out of Tulane in the 2019 NFL Draft, Leglue lasted seven seasons in the NFL.
He was on the Steelers’ practice squad for the entire 2024 season. While Leglue did not play a game that year, it marked a homecoming for him, as his most fruitful time in the NFL came with the Steelers.
The Steelers re-signed Leglue following training camp in 2024 as versatile depth. That was Leglue’s third stint with the Steelers. He had spent the previous two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans before re-joining the Steelers. Over his career, he has six starts, all of those coming with the Steelers. In 2022, he stepped in at guard when injuries racked up at that position late in the season.
Leglue finished his NFL career wit six starts and eight games played in total. His versatility allowed him to last as long as he did in the NFL as an undrafted prospect.
