Erie will host a gathering for the community Friday after three young people were seriously injured or killed in crashes over the weekend.

Community members can drop in to the Columbine Lounge in the Erie Community Center from 8 a.m to 6 p.m. to “share well-wishes and messages of support for the families impacted” and “express gratitude and encouragement for the first responders involved,” a town newsletter emailed on Tuesday reads.

“These sudden losses and injuries have deeply affected families, friends, first responders, and neighbors across Erie,” the newsletter adds.

Boulder County Co-Responders with crisis intervention expertise will be on site throughout the day to provide support and help connect individuals to additional resources. The town said it will also be a space to “offer thoughts and ideas on how we can improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists in our community.”

There is no program or agenda for the event.

“This gathering is an opportunity to show care for one another, to acknowledge the pain our community is experiencing, and to take the first steps, together, toward healing and a safer community for all,” the town’s email says.
