ALLENTOWN, Pa.- LANTA has set the date for its first fare increase in more than a decade.

The new rates will take effect on Monday, March 23.

Under the new structure, a single ride will cost $2.50 instead of $2.00.

A day pass will increase from $4 to $5.

A 31-day pass will cost $70, up from $60.

LANTA’s website has a complete list of the changes.

Also, the transit agency is eliminating transfers currently issued on board its buses.

The Senior Pass (for those 65+) will remain free.

LANTA last increased the price of a single ride 18 years ago; multi-ride prices went up in 2014.

LANTA said the fare hike is needed to keep pace with inflation and maintain a sustainable transit system.
