Mary Lou Walker – Novak, age 89, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation of Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton with Rev. Bruce Webster officiating.  Casket bearers will be Heath Walker, Kyle Walker, Nathan Walker, Joshua Walker, Cooper Current, and Riley Current.  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton on Monday from 1:00 – 1:45 P.M. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for a later designation.

Mary was born on July 8, 1936 in Earlham, IA, and she was the daughter of Oscar Henry Wild and Ethel (Smith) (Wild) Davis.  She grew up near Grand Junction and attended East Greene Community Schools. She was married to James LeRoy Walker on September 3, 1953 and to this union two sons were born, Tom and Randy.  The couple farmed four miles south of Scranton and Mary Lou was active with the farming operation. She was also employed at Chicago Rivet and McLaughlin International in Scranton. James passed away in 1998 and Mary Lou was later married to Lou Novak in 2004. The couple made their home in Greenfield, IA. Lou passed away in 2013 and she moved back to Scranton in 2020.

Mary was a member of the Church of Christ in Scranton. She was very artistic and enjoyed drawing and writing poems. She loved to go dancing, bowling, and playing cards with euchre being a favorite. But most of all she cherished the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by two sons, Tom Walker (Deb);  Randy Walker (Patti), her step-children: Tony Novak (Karla), Tina Novak Salisbury, and Tanya Novak Current (Steve); her grandchildren: Joshua, Jordan, Taylor, Alexander, Nathan, Kyle, Heath, Nate, Morgan, Taylor, Piper, Cooper, and Riley; many great-grandchildren; three brothers: Jerry Wild (Linda), Jack Davis (Karen), and Jimmy Davis (Brenda); two sisters, Judy Davis and Beverly Petersen (Paul); brother-in-law Tom Novak; sisters-in-law, Margy French and Pat Wild; nieces, nephews, other relatives friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, James and Lou; her parents; stepson Todd Novak; brothers: Larry Wild, Lewis “Junior” Davis, and Michael Davis; and her sister Pat Betz.
