Packy Doherty scored 21 points to lead second-seeded Scranton Prep to a 78-40 win over No. 7 Honesdale on Tuesday in the District 2 Class 4A boys basketball quarterfinals.
Doherty got off to a fast start with 14 points in the first half. Luke Flanagan contributed 19 points, making five of Scranton Prep’s 12 3-pointers.
Brody Martin added 12 points for the Cavaliers, who will host third-seeded Wyoming Area (21-3) in the semifinals Friday at 7 p.m.
Levi Martin scored 17 points and Jacob Ramos had 12 for Honesdale (8-15).
Wyoming Area 58, Tunkhannock 49: At Wyoming Area, Luke Kopetchny scored 27 points and Drew Keating poured in 12 to help the Warriors advance to Friday night’s Class 4A semifinals.
Mitchell Rusinchak finished with eight points for Wyoming Area while Bruno Pizzano added seven.
Bode Lukasavage and Elijah Faux each scored 14 points for Tunkhannock. Caden Newswanger finished with 13.
Dallas 67, Mid Valley 41: At Dallas, Kael Berry and Brady Mizzer each scored 10 points as part of a balanced scoring attack, leading the top-seeded Mountaineers to a win in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Mountaineers (22-3) will host Valley View on Friday night in the semifinals.
Joey Nocito added eight points for Dallas while Sukh Mathon added seven.
Landon Pratt led Mid Valley (7-16) with 20 points. Gavin Lettieri and Rhys Williams each scored six.
Class 5A
Cole West had 26 points to lead No. 5 North Pocono to a 48-43 win over No. 4 Wallenpaupack in the District 2 Class 5A quarterfinals at Wallenpaupack.
North Pocono advanced to face top-seeded Abington Heights (17-5) in the semifinals Friday at 7 p.m.
Connor Ruddy had nine points, and Anthony Maros added seven points for North Pocono (5-18).
Grady Liddy had 13 points for No. 4 Wallenpaupack (8-15).
Pittston Area 60, Nanticoke Area 37: At Pittston Area, Brennan Callahan scored 16 points to lead a balanced scoring attack in a win over Nanticoke Area in the opening round of the Class 5A playoffs.
The Patriots (12-11) advance to Friday night’s semifinals at No. 2 seed Crestwood (16-8). The teams split their two meetings in the regular season.
John Jadus added 14 points for Pittston Area while Lucas LoPresto finished with 11. Aidan Clarke scored eight.
Loudon Mullery led Nanticoke Area with 12 points. Mathias Mitchell scored 11 and Ethan Yendrziewski finished with seven.
