The Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a woman walked onto the Turnpike and was hit by a car on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened on Interstate 275 at mile marker 337.6 in Whitemarsh Township just before 4 p.m. on Oct. 22, according to officials.
Troopers reported that a woman allegedly walked onto the turnpike when she was then hit by a car.
The woman was badly hurt and was taken to a nearby hospital by medical helicopter, troopers said.
The driver of that car stayed at the scene, police said.
The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating this crash as a possible attempted suicide, officials said.

SkyForce10 was over the scene just before 4:30 p.m. where traffic could be seen backed up for at least one mile in both directions.
