READING, Pa. – Put away the fastnachts, it’s Ash Wednesday.
The Bernardine Franciscan Sisters distributed ashes to Alvernia University employees, students and alumni earlier today.
69 News stopped by the distribution at Veronica Hall Chapel this afternoon, one of several distributions at the school.
Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, the 40-day period leading up to Easter.
This year, Easter falls on Sunday, April 5th for most Christians.
