The Wilkes University Men’s Basketball team prevailed against Scranton 77-74 after a tough fought second half on Wednesday night. 

The Colonels were led by Lucas Lesko who had 24 points and the game sealing shot with 13.1 seconds left in the game to make it 77-74

Jack Argento and Colin Ackerman followed Lesko with 23 and 9 points each.

After jumping out to a 6-0 lead early on, the Colonels would only hold a 37-31 lead at the half

The Royals would tie the game up at 22 with 7:05 left in the first half after being down by 10 early on.

Scranton came out strong in the second half holding a 56-52 lead halfway through after a jumper from Jon Spatola.

After a very back-and-forth final stretch, the Colonels would take a 75-74 lead after a layup by Lesko.

Lesko scored on a  jumper to make it 77-74, and the Royals had an opportunity to send the game to overtime.

Nick Ruisi missed a three as the clock wound down, with the Colonels holding and securing the victory at the John Long Center.

The Royals were led by Sammy Tornabene who had 23 points on the night.

The Colonels improve to 14-9 on the season and 9-7 in Landmark conference play and will conclude the regular season at home against Goucher College on Saturday.

Scranton falls to 19-5 on the season and 12-5 in conference and will conclude their season at Catholic University on the same day.
