Lois Mae Parzanese

OBITUARY

Lois Mae Parzanese, 90, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Manor at Market Square in downtown Reading, where she had been a resident for almost three years. A longtime resident of Muhlenberg Township, she was the devoted wife of Harold E. Parzanese, who died in 2017. Born May 19, 1935, she was the youngest daughter of the late Eddie W. Graeff and Florence M. Graeff. She was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters.

A member of the color guard, Lois graduated in 1953 from Muhlenberg Township High School, which was also the alma mater of her husband Harold. She held several jobs, but her favorite was her work as an engineering administrator at First Energy in the Met-Ed subdivision. Lois worked for Met-Ed for more than 30 years, retiring in 1991. She is remembered for her elegant penmanship and her artistic abilities. Lois spent her free time crafting beautiful ceramics, painting on canvas, and painting charming country wood decorations, many of which she gifted to family and friends.

Lois was a meticulous housekeeper, and she and Harold loved entertaining family and friends in their Riverview Park home and especially by their backyard pool. For several years, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. East Coast trips included a lot of time spent in the Poconos, especially at Lake Wallenpaupack, where Lois, who could not swim, loved water skiing while wearing a life jacket! Other memorable trips included a trek to Colorado and later to Kansas with Lois’s father to visit the site of her father’s former employment as a teacher. Lois and Harold also had fun riding Harold’s motorcycle all the way to Florida.

Lois is survived by twelve nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces and nephews, two great-great nephews, and three great-great nieces. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Interment will be at Belleman’s Church Cemetery in the plot of her parents and husband. The family would like to thank the staff of Manor at Market Square, especially med-tech Rachel Abreu and caregiver Samuel Merisme; fellow residents Bob Sponagle and Nettie Cimadamore; the staff of Asera Care Hospice, especially nurse Krismely Paulino; and dear friend Terry Campbell for their care of and kindness toward Lois.
