KINGSTON, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A spirit of generosity and service is on display each month in Kingston as PAK Provisions partners with the Weinberg Food Bank to host its Fresh Food Family Market Distribution.

Open to all, the event offers both drive-through and walk-up options, with volunteers working to ensure that families receive fresh food and essential groceries.

Emphasizing that the food distribution is open to anyone in need, PAK Pediatrics Executive Director JR Vought explained how the community effort operates.

“PAK provisions, one of our community service lines. There’s a monthly community food distribution with partnership with the Weinberg Food Bank. It’s on the third Thursday of every month. So, you don’t have to be a patient of PAK Pediatrics; it can be anybody in the community. They come out and get some healthy options,” said Vought.

As the weather begins to warm, Vought shared how many individuals and families the food distribution typically serves each month.

“Mother Nature blessed us with a nice gap here to be able to do it. We’re obviously a mobile pop-up shop, so we’re weather-dependent. But our partnership with Weinberg Food Bank allows us to give food to about 400 to 500 people, every third Thursday of the month,” said Vought.

Relying on the power of teamwork to keep the distribution running smoothly, Vought said the event simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated volunteers who make it happen.

“We’re 100% volunteer supported. We get support through various local universities. Wilkes University, King’s College, and some local high schools. And we also get partners from other businesses,” said Vought.

PAK Provisions is always seeking volunteers to help support its ongoing food distribution efforts.
